I think I'm starting to figure out this blog.
Believe it or not, I used to be a pretty decent writer. Not great, far from brilliant, and probably not even all that good, but decent.
Well, here's the thing: I've lost that.
You know how people say that practice makes perfect? Well, apparently, lack of practice leads to complete and utter failure. When I was a kid, I used to write 24/7. And then, when I was done my story or poem or whatever it was that I was working on at the time, I'd look over it and think; "Huh. Not bad."
These days, I only need to read the first sentence or two of my latest endeavor before thinking; "Ugh- delete!"
Not only that, but I've gotten into the habit of using school as an excuse for my refusal to write. Whenever people ask why I haven't been working on anything lately (as my parents often do), I invariably say that I've been too busy with essays and lab reports for anything else, after which I promptly head to the basement for a rousing game of Mario Kart. But the school year is over, and as such, my standard explanations have been rendered null and void. As of now, there's no good excuse for my laziness.
That's basically what I'll be using this blog for, I guess- to put an end to my procrastination once and for all. The weird thing is that I actually really enjoy writing, but for some reason I never take the time to do it. Well, that changes here!
If you're reading this (P.S. Thank you! :D I'm super sorry for boring you with my ramblings.), I should warn you now that from here on out, this blog is pretty much guaranteed to get really, really random. One issue that I've always had with my writing is that I never think to make outlines, meaning that I pretty much follow any and all possible tangents unless I have a very strict marking scheme and/or set of rules to follow. Basically, my updates are likely to be quite sporadic, and the content of the posts themselves will probably be pretty unpredictable.
(Also, the writing itself will be chock-full of fail- for the first little while, at least. :P)
So, if practice really does make perfect (although at this point, I'd gladly settle for passable), now's my chance to find out!
Thanks very much for reading! Comments, criticisms and advice are always more than welcome. :)

An Awkward Introduction
Well, hello there!
I've gotta say, I didn't expect to see you here. In fact, I didn't really expect to see anyone here- but I digress.
First off, I have to apologize for all of this awkwardness on my part. But bear with me- I'm kinda new to the blogosphere, and, at the moment, feeling pretty substandard. I can't help but feel that a first blog post should be more momentous than this, you know? Like, it should be some epic production that leaves its audience on their knees, hands clasped in prayer, begging the author for more of her brilliance. And yet, here we stand: one hundred and four words in, and I haven't even told you my name.
But thanks to my irrational fear of creepy internet stalkers, I'm not even going to do that. :P
Online, I go by Ranta. I'm a sixteen year old teenage girl (seventeen this November- woo-hoo! :D) living in the middle of the frigid, hockey-obsessed north (perhaps better known as Canada). Part video game addict, part nerd, and part aspiring author. The latter, I suppose, is pretty much the drive behind this blog- although, truth be told, I still haven't got the slightest idea what it will be about.
But what better way to find out than to grab the reigns and charge right in? :)
